SIBU: Medical practitioners need to keep themselves updated and empowered in order to deliver the best care for their patients, said Dr Nanthakumar Thirunavukkarasu.

The Sibu Hospital director stressed that the medical field has undergone significant changes and evolution over the past 10 to 15 years.

“If you look at 10 to 15 years ago, we go by departments (organised by specialisation) such as medical department, surgical department and more. Now, we go by directory (such as) surgical directory, medical directory and woman and child directory.

“So, we always evolved and you have to keep yourself updated and empowered, for you to deliver the best care for your patients,” he said in his speech at the Sibu Update on Surgical Emergencies (SUSE) at Sibu Islamic Complex here yesterday.

He stressed that the public from all categories seek help at the hospital. Therefore, it is their duty to provide the best care and services within the available resources.
