KUCHING: Home-grown Kek Lapis Warisan Sdn Bhd celebrated its fifth year in the business with plans to open its second branch at Kota Samarahan within a month.
Its Managing Director, Dr Hafeezi Abdullah unveiled its expansion plans at the company’s anniversary dinner held at Damai Beach Resort.
Confident about its future he said the company has become synonymous with Malaysia’s cherished layer cake, known as “kek lapis,” in the last five years.
“This culinary tradition began with the ancestors, continued through grandmothers, and eventually landed in the skilled hands of my mother,” said Hafeezi.
He said Kek Lapis Warisan has maintained this legacy, offering a variety of kek lapis categories, including premium selections that are a cut above the rest.
“What sets Kek Lapis Warisan apart is our commitment to sharing our heritage with the public. We offer live demonstrations, allowing customers to not only purchase their favourite kek lapis but also witness the intricate and time-consuming process of making these delectable treats,” he said.
“Some kek lapis varieties take over an hour to create, and a few even exceed the two-hour mark.”
From a humble beginning with just six employees, the establishment now boasts a team of over 35 individuals.
And in gratitude, it treated the the team to a night of celebration with six employees receiving special awards for their five years of service.
According to Hafeezi, Kek Lapis Warisan offers a range of pricing, with kek lapis available in three categories: RM10, RM15, and premium kek priced at RM30.
“Our premises is open every day from 8am to 9pm, staying open during Chinese New Year, New Year’s Day, Gawai Dayak, Deepavali, and all other celebrations except for Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
He said they also offer postal delivery throughout Malaysia, available every Monday of the week, allowing customers from all over the country to enjoy their beloved kek lapis.
