BALINGIAN: Kelab Boules Mukah (KBM) B secured the championship title in the petanque competition held during the 2023 Balingian Branch SABERKAS Sports Carnival at Tebingan Balingian recently.

Kelab Sukan Boules Balingian (KSBB) 77 claimed the runner-up position, KBM C secured the third place, and KSBB 66 secured the fourth position.

The competition was jointly organised by the Sarawak United National Youth Organisation (SABERKAS) Balingian and the Balingian Boules Sports Club. The event saw the participation of 16 teams from Mukah, Tatau, Bintulu and Balingian.

SABERKAS Balingian Branch Setia Pulat Unit chairman Mohamad Azrozain Abdul Latip expressed gratitude for the positive response from the public despite the event being held behind closed doors and by invitation.

The event aimed to identify local talent in the sport of petanque, strengthen the relationship between the community and sports clubs, and promote a sporting culture among the local communities around Balingian,” he added.

He mentioned that a closed petanque competition for the women’s category is scheduled for Dec 30. The event was attended by Balingian assemblyman representative and SABERKAS Balingian chairman Councillor Sameon Yusuf, as well as KSBB chairman Adeni Narawi.
