KUCHING: The Early Childhood Education Digital Transformation programme designed by the Department of Community Development (Kemas) is to complement 21st century learning at its kindergartens.
In stating this, Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Rubiah Wang said the rapid development of technology today has become a challenge for the early childhood education environment at Kemas to keep up.
Therefore, she stated that the programme was implemented to create a learning and facilitation environment in the classroom that is integrated with digital technology.
“In order to realise this, Kemas is planning to supply equipment or digital devices such as smart televisions, laptops and internet access to its kindergartens nationwide in phases.
“We are planning to equip 700 classes with digital equipment and thus far, in Sarawak, a total of 13 laptops have been supplied,” she said during the closing of Hari Potensi Kemas Sarawak here today (Sept 24).
“For now, we will be putting our focus on supplying the equipment in areas that have internet facilities before moving to other areas.
“We will work together with the Ministry of Communications and Digital to provide internet connectivity in areas that do not have access to it,” she said.
