KUCHING: Staff of Sarawak Community Development Department (Kemas) are urged to cultivate good teamwork and provide quality service to the community.

Federal Deputy Rural Development Minister Datuk Hasbi Habibollah emphasised that the key to great teamwork was effective communication.

“Without proper and effective communication, a teamwork culture cannot be properly practised.

“Support is also one of the most important elements in working as a team, to help in improving each other’s performance,” he said at the Kemas Excellence Service Awards ceremony here yesterday.

He added that teamwork could also help generate new ideas and increase work creativity.

“For example, when each member of the team with different skills collaborate during discussions, they can generate more creative ideas to solve a problem.

“Teamwork also creates an opportunity for a continuous learning process and can help civil servants, especially Sarawak Kemas staff, learn even faster.”

Earlier, 172 people received excellence service awards.
