KUCHING: The Kenyalang Chinese New Year Festive Sale 2025 will return, bringing festive cheer and economic opportunities to the Kenyalang Commercial Centre’s vendors and tenants.

The Kuching South City Council (MBKS) event, chaired by Cr Judy Kho Poh Gek, will take place over 15 days, from Jan 14 to 28, 2025, at the Kenyalang Commercial Centre in Kuching.

According to the MBKS mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng, the public understand this is the only one MBKS has set up in Kenyalang Commercial Centre.

“The reason is simple: we want to concentrate in one location rather than having too many that will be overwhelming,” he said during his press conference at the MBKS building, Tuesday (Nov 26).

Furthermore, MBKS will open applications for the public and vendors interested in participating in the Kenyalang Chinese New Year Festive Sale 2025.

“The form is available from yesterday (Nov 25) until Friday, Dec 13, and you can collect it at Counter 9 of the MBKS One Stop Service Center, located in the lobby of the MBKS building.

“As for submission deadline, completed forms must be submitted to the same counter by 4pm on Dec 13.”

Wee added that there will be different charges for the general public who are interested in being vendors at the event and the tenants of the Kenyalang Commercial Centre.

“The rate will be RM150 per stall, with a size of four by eight feet, and this applies to the general public, specifically those who are not tenants at Kenyalang Park.

“As for the shop owners at Kenyalang Park, their shopfront area essentially provides space equivalent to about two canopies since it’s part of their storefront.

“However, the fee is RM100 per stall or space for tenants, totalling RM200 for the two spaces in front of or beside their shop because each shopfront accommodates two spaces, allowing them to utilise the area in front of their shops fully.”

Wee added that the spaces will be allocated on a first come, first served basis for the general public, but shop owners will trade directly in front of their shops.

“We are targeting around 270 participants, and spaces will be allocated based on first come, first serve basis.

“After all the submissions are received, a balloting process will be conducted to assign the kiosk numbers and trading locations to ensure a transparent and fair process.”
