KUCHING: Kenyalang Primary School is getting long overdue upgrading works to improve the school’s infrastructure.

Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii Lee Wuen disclosed that the school had a long history in the area thus some of its facilities were old and rundown.

He paid a visit to the school on Thursday (June 16) to monitor the progress of the project funded by his office.

“We are helping to upgrade and change the window and door frames of the staff office and classrooms that have been damaged by termites.

“Hopefully, this will provide a safe environment in the school for the benefit of students and teachers.”

Dr Yii said most fire extinguishers in the school building had expired, adding that new ones were urgently needed to cope with emergencies.

As such, he allocated funds to the school for the purchase of new fire extinguishers.

On a separate occasion, Dr Yii congratulated students who received their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) results.

“For those who received the results they desired, congratulations but for those who did not, it is okay as the exam does not define you or what you can become in the future.

“In any situation, we believe in all of you and will cheer you on as you find your passion and contribute together to the rebuilding of our nation.”
