SIBU: Former Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Bawang Assan Community Development Team leader, Cr Kevin Lau Kor Jie has been unanimously elected as the branch new chairman during the branch’s triennial general meeting (TCM) recently.

He succeeds outgoing chairman Senator Robert Lau Hui Yew.

Lau, 39, who is also currently serving as the Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC) Environment and Public Health Standing Committee chairman, has vowed to further strengthen the party’s power and solidarity in order to render better services to the people.

He said since joining the SUPP Bawang Assan Community Development Team, he and his team had gone down to the ground to resolve issues affecting the people.

“We are now more prepared as we have a better understanding of the area.

“Being service-oriented, we endeavour to do our best to solve their problems and needs.

“We will continue to support our party leaders at the central or GPS (Gabungan Parti Sarawak) level. We will emulate the good work they had done for Sarawak.”
