MIRI: Sarawak Transport Minister Datuk Lee Kim Shin visited the newly completed boat ramp and boat shed at Kampung Pujut Tanjung Batu here on Tuesday (March 30).
Several requests were made by residents through the village safety and development committee as the existing wooden jetty was damaged.
The construction was a project under Lee’s Senadin Rural Transformation Programme 2019, carried out by the Public Works Department (JKR).
The project consisted of a reinforced concrete ramp with boat shed to replace the existing jetty.
The villagers, who are mostly fishermen, can now park their boats and even tow them to their own houses.
The project started last Nov and was completed in March this year, costing RM200,000.
Village headman Usman Suleiman and villagers were thankful for Lee’s help to better their livelihoods and giving his attention and care to Kampung Pujut Tanjung Batu.
Together with Lee, who is also the Senadin assemblyman, during his visit were assistant divisional engineer Stephen Ung and JKR contractor Chai Kuen Ming.
