KUCHING: The Sarawak Bumiputera Teachers’ Union (KGBS) hopes that the issue of dilapidated schools in the state will be solved immediately.

Its president Zulkiflee Sebli, said he also wishes to see more allocations channelled to those (dilapidated) schools.

“Besides that, it is hoped that the issue of critical shortages of teachers can be resolved,” he said in a message on his hopes for the year 2023 posted today (Dec 31).

He added that with the increase in teachers retiring, this will be an added burden for the assisting teachers.

“The existing teachers will have to bear with the task left behind while waiting for the new teachers to report for duty,” he said.

Zulkiflee said that this will definitely continue to cause problems for the school if no new teachers are placed.

“Therefore, it is KGBS’s hope in 2023 that this problem can be solved for the good of the teachers and students,” he said.
