SAMARAHAN: The teaching and learning of khat is an effort to complete the three processes of human life, namely work, rest, and worship.

According to a report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS), Kota Samarahan MP Datuk Rubiah Wang said khat is not just an art but also an element which is closely related to human life, in addition to being a valuable heritage to be safeguarded.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the Samarahan Division Level Youth Khat Art Course 2022 on Thursday (Feb 10), she believed that the objectives of the programme would be successfully achieved when the youth are given the opportunity to showcase their talents in cultivating the Quran and hadith.

She explained that the knowledge and experience gained during the course are able to produce a community skilled in khat writing which had also deepened their knowledge in Quran writings.

In this regard, Rubiah hoped that the youth in Samarahan Division would continue to strive to develop themselves and make khat a career as well as further generate their economic circumstances.
