SAMARAHAN: The Samarahan League 2017 Championship will begin in early August, said organising chairman, Mohd Iskana Haji Bujang.
According to Mohd Iskana, they will hold a meeting on the date to start the league this season.
“We will hold a meeting in the nearest time to set the date for the Samarahan League 2017. Undoubtedly, it will start in early next August,” he said when met recently.
Mohd Iskana said they are expecting at least seven teams to compete for the league.
“Registration is now open and any inquiries can contact 013-8044408,” he said adding that priorities will be given to the teams who played last season.
“If any last season’s team declined to participate, then participation will be given to other teams,” said Mohd. Iskana.
He said the Samarahan Mini Stadium, the Unimas field and the Tun Abdul Razak Teachers Institute (IPTAR) Kota Samarahan field are expected to be the official venues of the league.
The matches will be held on weekends (Saturday & Sunday) only.
Meanwhile, Mohd. Iskana said that the Samarahan League 2017 will be used to identify talented players for Samarahan for the Sarawak Cup 2017.
