BINTULU: The Ministry of Women, Childhood, and Community Wellbeing is integrating digital literacy programmes into the main curriculum of SeDidik Sarawak.
Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said that this effort aligns with the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 initiative, which focuses on addressing the challenges and opportunities of the digital era through integration.
“To realise this mission and vision, SeDidik Sarawak has partnered with the Rolf Schnyder Welfare Association to implement the Kids: Bits & Bytes Programme.
“Through this programme, we have equipped 117 teachers with basic digital literacy skills in February and March 2024.
“This initiative is a testament to the far-sighted vision of SeDidik’s management and the dedication of its teachers. We recognise the importance of fostering digital literacy and productive digital device usage habits among preschoolers,” she said in her speech at the Teacher’s Day, Hari Raya Aidilfitri, and Pre Gawai’s SeDidik Bintulu Zone celebration held at a hotel on Saturday night.
Fatimah also highlighted the need for teachers and carers to redouble their efforts and find more creative, innovative, and practical solutions to ensure that SeDidik Sdn Bhd meets the expectations of all stakeholders, especially parents.
“Thus, parties need to work together to meet the challenges and continue to improve their knowledge and skills to convey knowledge to children effectively.
“Similarly, the effectiveness of the curriculum must remain consistent and responsive to current developments,” she said.
