SARATOK: One hundred and sixty-nine children from 14 Community Development Department (KEMAS) kindergartens recently went on a study tour of the Saratok Fire and Rescue Station (BBP).
The kindergartens were Tabika Kemas Kampung Melango A and B, Kampung Tanjung, Kampung Melango Baru C, Kampung Kupang, Tabika Kemas Kampung Hilir Kupang (NKRA), Krangan Krian Nursery, Melayu Roban Taman Seroja Indah A and B, Rh Nuing Batu Empat Sebetan (NKRA), Taman Desa Damai Saratok Nursery, Saratok Fire and Rescue Station Nursery, Mathew Demang Tembawai Pok and Peligong Nursery.
During the tour which started at 8 am, the children learnt about the duties of firemen and fire safety.
After the briefings, the children, accompanied by 16 community educators and 15 assistants, also toured the control room and viewed an exhibition of the firefighting equipment.
They were excited when taken aboard a Scania Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) and treated to a kitchen fire demonstration.
Before going home around 11 am, the children had the opportunity to play and bathe under the water shower from the FRT machine.
A spokesman for the Bravo BBP Saratok team said they were happy to welcome the kids.
He hoped the study tour had been memorable for the little ones and that it would help them understand the work of firefighters.
“We also want this to motivate the children to become firefighters when they grow up,” he added.
For any emergency, the public can call 999 or directly to BBP Saratok 083-436353.
