MIRI: A grader operator was killed on the spot by the vehicle on Friday.
The fatal incident was reportedly to have occurred in an estate at Ladang Subis 2, Jalan Miri-Bintulu.
According to Miri Fire and Rescue Department Zone 6 chief Supt Law Poh Kiong, nine firemen from Lopeng Fire Station with one fire engine and an Emergency Medical Rescue Service (EMRS) rushed to the scene, located about two hours and 11 minutes’ drive from the city centre, upon receiving a distress call on the incident at 3.23pm.
The grader operator was identified as Ugak Balak, 67.
“Ugak was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel,” said Law.
He added that the dead man’s body was successfully removed from the grader at 6.17pm using a hydraulic cutter.
The body was taken to the Miri Hospital morgue.
