KUCHING: A disable elderly man Lai Shoon Choi, 64, whose plight was published not so long ago yesterday received some items through Hope Place, courtesy of few donors who prefer anonymity.

Items donated to Lai through Hope Place yesterday included a water tank, solar light, plastic table, school bag, pillows and some kitchen items.

Lai lost his wife some months ago due to cancer.

She left behind Lai with one son who is still studying at a primary school. They currently stay at a house without any water and electricity supply. They neither have a bicycle nor a motorcycle. In 1968, Lai lost one hand as after being knocked down by a car while walking home. His present residence has no access to car or vehicle and only reachable on foot for ten minutes through muddy footpath and two bamboo bridges.

Hope Place founder Kelvin Wan and Hope Place staff yesterday delivered the  food items including drinking water, rice, cooking oil, salt, sugar, biscuit, noodle, Milo, plastic table and kitchen items donated by public members.

“Also delivered was the water tank. We help uncle Lai to install the solar light. He was so happy and kept on saying ‘thank you’ to Hope Place team. He stated that now they will have light at night and that his only son could do homework during night time,” said Kelvin in a statement.

Lai would like to take this opportunity to thanks Hope Place and especially those kind donors for bringng water tank and solar light to him.   

Hope Place carries its their aid deliveries once every three months because of the many families on its recipients list. It currently supports more than 200 families.
