SARATOK: On its 60th anniversary, Saratok Public Kindergarten is being urged to embrace modern advancements while preserving its strong foundation.
Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri commended the kindergarten for its dedication and perseverance in nurturing young minds.
“This kindergarten has been a cornerstone of our community for six decades. I hope it continues to thrive and evolve, especially in the face of technological advancements,” Duri said in a speech read by Saratok District Councillor Majid Amit Zainuddin during its anniversary dinner on Saturday (Nov 23).
The event, officiated by Meradong assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing on behalf of Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, saw a total donation of RM214,016.
Established in 1964, the kindergarten has faced challenges and adapted to changing times.
Initially using Chinese as the medium of instruction, it transitioned to Malay in line with national education policies.
Also present were Senator Pele Peter Tinggom, Krian assemblyman Friday Belik, and key figures from the kindergarten community including Chairman of the Saratok Public Kindergarten Management Board Pemanca Lim Guan Ann and Chairman of the Celebration Committee Kapitan Gan Eng Kie.
