KUCHING: Collaboration between the Sarawak Mosque Welfare Trust Board (LAKMNS) and Open University Malaysia (OUM) provides an opportunity for kindergarten teachers under LAKMNS to pursue their studies in early childhood education.

LAKMNS chief executive officer Datuk Abang Abdul Wahap Abang Julai said the cooperation between the two parties benefits teachers in terms of tuition fee discounts.

Also, he added, these teachers found it easier to keep up with the learning while they were working because of OUM’s implementation of the online learning concept.

“We are committed to requiring diplomas for all of our teachers. Go on to the master’s if possible.

“We have sent 15 teachers to OUM, which is now in its second semester and is supported by LAKMNS,” he said after attending the OUM Kuching Learning Centre’s strategic partner appreciation ceremony today.

Abang Abdul Wahap said based on the feedback, it was an opportunity for LAKMNS’s educators to expand their knowledge.

As such, he said LAKMNS supported and gave opportunities to these teachers by financing their fees to continue their studies.

“We felt that those who will graduate at OUM will add value to our kindergartens,” he said.
