LUNDU: The kitchen and store of a single-storey house in Kampung Jangkar here was damaged in an early morning fire, today (Jan 18).
Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported in the 3.45am incident after the nine tenants managed to escape in time.
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firemen from the Lundu station were promptly despatched to the scene, some 25km away, after receiving a distress call.
On arrival, extinguishing works were quickly carried out and the flames were brought under control around 4.10am.
It was reported that the fire had caused 40 per cent damages to the house, especially to the kitchen and store.
The cause of the fire and losses incurred are still under investigation.
