KABONG: Tanjung Kembang Beach, which is the venue for the Kabong International Kite Festival (KIKF), can actually be regarded as a food paradise.
Various local village dishes and community traditions can be found here.
Therefore, it is not surprising that there are among the international participants who share stories about the uniqueness of food as the main attraction.
A married couple from Surabaya, Indonesia, Adib and Irene admitted to enjoying fresh mangoes and kueytiau every night.
“Kabong is the best. There are many interesting things and we like fresh mango and kueytiau the most.
“Five nights at Kabong, five nights of enjoying the food,” he told Suara Sarawak, yesterday.
Adib explained that he joined KIKF for the first time, admitting that he had a very interesting experience.
“We are very proud to have the opportunity to participate in KIKF 2024, I hope next year the organising will be even better,” he said.
He said that before going to KIKF, the couple attended the same festival at a separate venue as preparations to participate in this international festival.
Meanwhile, Kasun Samarasekara from Sri Lanka described seeing colourful kites with various shapes and patterns being flown as a satisfaction coming to KIKF, Tanjung Kembang Beach.
“Imagine there are 39 representatives from various nations flying their own kites…it feels fun.
“Additionally it is the first time coming here, so it’s really exciting.
“I commend KIKF 2024 for having been managed quite brilliantly. Congratulations,” he said.
Asked about Kabong, he said it was an interesting place with very good people.
“They helped us a lot during the six days here…they do not mind to share the traditional culture of the community. In the future if there is an opportunity, I will definitely come again,” he added.
KIKF 2024 commenced since March 5 and ended yesterday with the closing ceremony officiated by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
