KANOWIT: Community Leaders and Village Chiefs (KMKK) in Ngemah are required to have well-planned strategies and annual activities for their respective jurisdictions and longhouses.
Ngemah assemblyman Anyi Jana said this would help them to perform their entrusted duties and responsibilities effectively and achieve their performance targets.
“With such planning, KMKK will identify which aspects can be executed well and which areas need improvement.
“As leaders, you must be firm, willing to learn, and proactive in advancing your longhouses or areas to a higher level,” he said during the Ngemah Community Leaders’ Appointment Certificate Presentation Ceremony at Kanowit District Office Hall on Tuesday (July 2).
During the ceremony, a total of 84 KMKK in Ngemah constituency received their appointment certificates.
On another note, Anyi clarified that the elected representatives are not involved in the appointment of longhouse chiefs, as this responsibility lies with the District Officer and the Penghulu for their respective areas.
“Residents and elected representatives are not part of the appointment process. We only receive updates from the meeting minutes.”
Also present were Susan Clement, a political secretary to the Premier; and Kanowit District officer Jackline August @ August Jahar.
