KUCHING: The Kamek Nang Champion (KNC) is one of the newest programmes that will give local musicians the opportunity to showcase their talents internationally.

It will also dignify arts and cultures of Sarawak, in addition to finding new musicians venturing in the field of music.

Interesting performance during the Kamek Nang Champion (KNC) Final Concert at the Balai Budaya, DBP.

The tournament allows participants to master a variety of rules and discipline skills in a performance, including its effectiveness in conveying emotions, cognitive, creativity and innovation, in addition to unearthing new talents in music in Sarawak.

The main objective of the programme is to provide employment opportunities for musicians and make music a career with a bright future.

KNC is also a brilliant idea from the Persatuan Anak Seni Sarawak (Anak Seni) led by Mohamad Ghazali Jeman or better known as Jalot Jeman.

In line with the mission of Anak Seni, which is to bring forth and highlight the talents of young Sarawakians from various art levels and skills, KNC was organised for the first time in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industries and Performing Arts (MTCP) and also Sarawak Art Council (MSS).

The winner of each category will take home RM3,000 in cash; runner-up RM2,000; third place RM1,000 and fourth place RM500. Each also brought home a certificate, trophy and some souvenirs.
