MIRI: Minister of Tourism, Art, Culture, Youth and Sports Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah has cautioned Pakatan Harapan (PH) to know their stand in Sarawak.
“In here (Sarawak) Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is the government and you are the opposition, bear that in mind,” he said.
Abdul Karim cautioned PH elected representatives in Sarawak against instigating the people and stirring up disunity among the multiracial communities here.
“It is crucial for us, Sarawakians to be fearless on PH, because they are not the government in Sarawak.”
He reminded local community leaders to not be intimidated by threats posed by PH elected representatives.
“They can’t do anything to you…and off course in order to get what they want, they will resort to threats, but please do not fear them,” he said during a Majlis Ramah Tamah Aidilfitri hosted by Ketua Masyarakat Melayu Miri (Makmum) at a leading hotel here.
He reminded the community leaders not to give in to demands and threats by PH elected representatives.
“You can always decline politely their requests to use facilities within your respective areas if their purpose is to conduct an event or programme to break up our unity and harmony in Sarawak.”
Abdul Karim pointed out that elected representatives from PH in Sarawak should instead serve the people whole heartedly.
“When the rakyat entrust you with the power (as YBs), you should exercise it to benefit the rakyat and not go around instigating people,” he said.
Abdul Karim reminded the people to remain united and support the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and rally behind GPS in the next state election.
Also present were Assistant Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Lee Kim Shin, Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting, Lambir assemblyman Ripin Lamat and Resident Miri Division Julaihi Mastapha.
