KUCHING: Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) will be working closely with Miri City Council (MCC) with regard to rate collections and smart city programmes.
MPKS chairman Datuk Peter Minos said there was so much to learn from MCC, especially on how MCC was able to collect up to 90 per cent of rates from residents within its jurisdiction.
“I have met Miri mayor Adam Yii and have learned a lot. Where possible, MPKS will emulate MCC’s collection strategy. Impressive and practical,” he said on Monday (April 18).
Minos also said MCC had successfully implemented its smart city programme, using technology to make the city safe, clean and green.
“MCC has done a remarkable job in this matter. So we also want to emulate MCC’s success.”
