KUCHING: The Kota Sentosa Christmas Parade (KSCP) 2024 is open to all, regardless of race or religion, and will kick off from Mile 7 Business Hall (Dewan Perniagaan) on December 1.
Organising chairman Pastor Greman Ujang said the parade aims to unite the community while celebrating the spirit of Christmas.
“Last year, we welcomed over 1,000 participants.
“This year, we hope to surpass that number,” he said during a press conference at Christ Baptist Church, Kota Sentosa here on Friday.
Greman added that the second edition of the parade, themed “Jesus My Redeemer,” builds on its successful debut in 2023 noting that his hope to make the parade an annual tradition of unity and celebration.
“The route will start at Dewan Perniagaan Batu 7 and proceed along Kuching Ranger Depot Road, Liu Shan Bang Road Lorong 3B, passing landmarks such as Public Bank, Mile 7 Market, and Chan Furniture Kota Sentosa before returning to the starting point.
“Participants are advised to park at the Mile 7 Basketball Mini Stadium, BS Supermarket Mile 7, or nearby public parking spaces.
“Please bring umbrellas, torchlights, water bottles, and other essentials to prepare for the parade,” he added.
Participants are encouraged to wear blue attire in any shade to reflect this year’s theme and enhance the festive atmosphere.
“During the parade, we’ll sing Christmas carols, spread holiday cheer by wishing bystanders a Merry Christmas, and distribute gifts,” he added.
The event, organised by the Sarawak Evangelical Christian Association (SECA) with support from the Association of Churches Sarawak (ACS), will feature Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap and Padawan Municipal Council chairman (MPP) Tan Kai as officiating guests.
