KUCHING: Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap has allocated a sum of RM100,000 to SK Satria Jaya under his 2023 Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) funding to carry out upgrading works at the school, which will be implemented and supervised by the Kuching South City Council (MBKS).

In a press statement today (Oct 23), Yap, along with MBKS councillors and officers, visited the school and were briefed on the requests made by the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of SK Satria Jaya for the plans, specifications and bill of quantities required for the upgrading works.

MBKS officers were requested to speed up the preparation of the scope of work to ensure timely delivery of the upgrades for the benefit of the school’s students.

“During the site visit, Alex Pega, the president of the PTA, also requested Yap for additional RTP funds to repair a section of the school block’s leaking roof,” added the statement.

Yap asked for a supplementary list of other urgent and priority defects to be repaired. He will submit an application for an extra RM100,000 in RTP funding for 2024 to address all necessary repair works.

He remains committed to improving the facilities of all the schools in N12 Kota Sentosa and will continue to systematically and fairly allocate his RTP funding for their repairs and upgrading works.

“This is because adequate and properly maintained school facilities play a very important role in students’ development, by providing an ideal study environment that is both beneficial and conducive to teaching and learning.”
