KUCHING: Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap Yau Sin has expressed his commitment to continue financially support SMK DPHA Gapor, Stampin.
He further stated this includes assisting the school to organise the school programmes and activities as well as upgrading the unsatisfactory infrastructure for the comfort of both the teachers and students.
“I have also informed the school that their earlier request for new toilets, costing RM150,000 under my rural transformation project (RTP) funding has been approved by the state government,” he said.
He said this in his statement after officiating at the closing ceremony of Malay Language Mastery Programme 2023 and Presentation of SPM 2022 Top Scorers Awards.
During the closing ceremony, Yap presented certificates of merit and incentive awards amounting to RM8,300 to 36 SPM 2022 top scorers who obtained 5As and above, alongside grants of RM8,000 to the school’s Parent and Teacher Association (PTA), in which RM5,000 is for organising future events and programmes and RM3,000 towards the school’s Arts and Culture club.
“I also thanked the teachers for their effort to encourage and help the students to master our national language, Malay which is an essential key to inculcate unity among our multiracial society.
“I hope the students continue to study diligently for greater academic achievement which is essential to secure high paying jobs in this digital age,” he added.
