KUCHING: The Bayu Group from the Kuching Port Authority (KPA) was the winner in the ‘Sayembara DEKON Perkhidmatan Awam Piala Ketua Menteri Sarawak 2017’.
Made up of Robe r t Tony George, Arimugan Nadarajah, Mohd Najib Buang, Mohd Dahlan Samawi, and Siti Nurbaya Saini, the team defeated two others in the final round at the state Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) here on Tuesday.
Their poem entitled ‘Bangkit’ was written by Robert. They walked away wi t h RM2,000, a trophy, a certificate, as well as books published by DBP. Second place went to the Puspa Kencana Group from Miri District Education Department which presented a poem entitled ‘Di Balik Awan’.
Made up of Zambri Zainal, Mohd Aidil Firdaus Mohd Sok, Aziz Tahir, Suraya Harun, and Nur Ilyani Alias, the team bagged RM1,800, a certificate and books published by DBP.
Osman Zaini from SK Rajau Ensika in Simunjan secured third place with a poem entitled ‘Saudara, Mereka’ which earned him RM1,500, a certificate, and books published by DBP.
A team from SK Petra Jaya and Warisan Anak Merdeka Group from SMK Batu Lintang were the consolation winners. They received RM300 each, certificates, and DBP- published books. Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Haji Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and state DBP director Dr Hazami Jahari gave away the prizes.
