KUCHING: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) will continue the MADANI Rahmah Sales Programme and KPDN Carnival Tour next year.
Its minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Alis said the programme has received a positive response from visitors, with citizens enjoying savings of 10 to 30 per cent compared to market prices.
“We have proposed in the 2025 Budget for this programme to continue next year with the same or increased allocation.
“During the Terengganu leg of the programme, I announced that we will implement the MADANI Rahmah Sales Programme (PJRM) at selected markets, based on criteria such as rising prices, location, and high transportation accessibility,” he said.
He said this when officiating at the Karnival KPDN 2024 at Metrocity Event Space here on Saturday.
Earlier in his speech, Armizan said this tour is the fourth of six series following Perlis, Kelantan, Perak, and will continue to Sabah and Malacca.
He added that the objective of the programme is to promote the functions and services offered by the ministry and its agencies to the public, enhancing understanding of KPDN’s direction while building trust between the government and the people.
Armizan expressed gratitude to the attendees, highlighting that by midday, participation had already reached 18,000 people.
Held in conjunction with the 40th anniversary of the Buy Malaysian Goods Campaign (KBBM), the carnival highlights the direct delivery of ministry services to the public.
Additionally, the event includes sessions focused on consumer advocacy, enforcement advocacy, and initiatives under the Rahmah Umbrella, such as the MADANI Rahmah Sales Programme, MADANI Rahmah Menu Programme, and advocacy for the Malaysian Goods Logo (LBM), along with other attractive services from the participating agencies.
Also present were Padungan assemblyman Chong Chieng Jen, Pending assemblywoman Violet Yong and KPDN Sarawak director Matthew Dominic Barin.
