BINTULU: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) is committed to strengthening the Rahmah Umbrella initiative as a key strategy to address the cost of living for the people this year.
Bintulu KPDN head Al Redzamani Abdul Razak announced the expansion of the initiative, particularly through the implementation of the Private and Industry Rahmah Charity Initiative components.
He highlighted the Rahmah Sales Programme (RSP) as a significant initiative under the Rahmah Umbrella, aimed at providing essential items at discounted prices.
“The Rahmah Sales Programme (RSP) collaborates with strategic partners to offer price reductions of between 10 to 30 per cent on daily necessities compared to current market prices,” he said during the launch of the PJRR at Emart Bintulu on Thursday (April 4).
The symbolic launch was officiated by Steven Kong Kai Seng, the special officer to the Bintulu MP.
The two-day PJRR, held from April 4 to 5, features 16 essential items, including poultry, fish, vegetables, eggs, and household items, offered at discounted rates.
Al Redzamani urged residents to take advantage of the lower prices at Tamu Emart Bintulu, advising prudent shopping in light of current economic challenges.
“Shopping according to needs is crucial in times of inflation. The PJR initiative aims to assist the low-income group (B40) in purchasing necessities, especially with the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.”
