KUCHING: The Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (KPDNHEP) is committed in assisting the state government to curb the smuggling of subsidised goods out of the country.
Its enforcement director Datuk Iskandar Halim Sulaiman said the ministry has collaborated with the state border enforcement agencies to focus on ongoing activities involving border areas.
As such, the strategic partnership between KPDNHEP and the enforcement agencies here demonstrates a strong cooperation between the two parties.
Iskandar said this at a press conference prior to chairing a bilateral meeting at the state KPDNHEP office yesterday.
He stated that the meeting was held to discuss common tasks and sharing of expertise, strategic planning information, logistics and finance.
“We seek to establish co-operation and coordination of actions on pre, during and post operations in order for all actions to comply with the standard operation procedure (SOP) and thus, draft legislation relating to the current issues.
“The meeting focused on local and international issues that not only affected the country’s economy but also the public order,” he added.
