KUCHING: Ushering in the Year of the Rat, Kenny Rogers Roasters (KRR) had a heart-warming Chinese New Year (CNY) celebration with 23 residents of Siri Jayanti Metta Care Centre yesterday.
The KRR team prepared several activities to entertain the elderly folks.
The event kicked off with a CNY-themed colouring session, followed by a lively karaoke sing-along session with catchy festive tunes.
Everyone had the opportunity to relive some classic favourites for the CNY season such as ‘Gong Xi Gong Xi’ (Good Wishes) and ‘He Xin Nian’ (Greetings to the New Year).
“Celebrating the festive occasion is significant to welcome a fresh new year for good health, good luck, and happiness. As such, we welcomed the Year of the Rat with elderly folks through a series of activities to warm their hearts.
“We are truly delighted to see the smiles of the residents at Siri Jayanti Metta Care Centre. Their smiles motivate us to further enhance our community efforts, in line with KRR’s mission to provide wholesome meals to the community,” said Won Li Yin, marketing manager of Berjaya Roasters (M) Sdn Bhd.
One of the event highlights was the prosperity yee sang tossing session, a Malaysian tradition during CNY that symbolises happiness, health, and all things auspicious.
Red packets, mandarin oranges, and KRR goodie bags consisting of balanced and wholesome food were given to the elderly folks to spread the festive joy.
To conclude the event, the elderly folks and caretakers were treated with Kenny’s Quarter Lite Meal that is served with 1/4 of tender and juicy rotisserie-roasted chicken, aromatic rice, and Kenny’s home-made muffin.
