I love its vibrant and diverse communities, historic architecture, and the abundance of delicious food, especially the local Sarawak laksa and kolo mee. The natural surroundings, such as the picturesque waterfront, lush parks, and nearby rainforests, offer a perfect escape into nature. The friendliness and warmth of the people make it feel like home, and there’s always a festival or event showcasing the unique traditions and arts of Sarawak.

As someone who has been away from Kuching for over a decade in search of greener pastures in Malaysia’s capital city, I miss the food the most. I also miss the people of Kuching, with their diverse languages and dialects being spoken while sitting in a coffee shop and chatting about life.
