KUCHING: The Kuching Autistic Association (KAA) will be organising a food fair and charity sale at the Association of Churches in Sarawak (ACS) Building on July 16.
Its president Dr Catherine Chen said that event is one of its major fundraising programmes to be held this year.
“Do come, and we look forward to your support in our events,” she said during the KAA one-day mini bazaar and open day held at the KAA Educational and Vocational Training Centre, Jalan Desa Wira, here today (Jan 14).
She added that another major fundraising programme will be the Bunny Autism Run, which will be held at the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) foyer on April 30.
In order to continue to provide services and carry out training services, she said, KAA needs the help and support of the public in these fund-raising programmes.
“This is because KAA’s annual operating cost is about RM1.2 million, and we need to raise about RM750,000 annually.
“Every contribution makes a difference to the lives of children and adults living with autism,” she said.
She added that KAA will be 25 years old in May this year and that it has grown over the years.
“Together, let us continue to work towards a better tomorrow for the autism community as we accept our children and students for who they are, build on their strengths, and never give up on them,” she said.
Deputy Minister of Women, Early Childhood, and Community Wellbeing Development II Mohammad Razi Sitam, who was representing the Minister of Women, Early Childhood, and Community Wellbeing Development Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, was also present during the event.
