KUCHING: Kuching Charity Run 2023 organised by six Kuching Rotary clubs will be held in CityOne Megamall on May 7.
The charity run will commence at 6.30 am consisting of three categories, 2km, 5km and 10km.
Rotary District Governor Elect of District 3310 John Chan pointed out that the funds collected from the charity run will be channelled to the Kidney Dialysis Centre, Empowering Girls and Literacy Centre, Gift of Sight and several other service projects.
He also said that people have incorrectly perceived Rotary clubs as clubs for rich people because we have been able to take on significant humanitarian projects in the community for many years.
“They must think that all the money we contribute comes from our own pockets.
“Yes it does but much of it comes from others who believe in our cause and trust that their contributions will be properly utilised,” he said after launching the charity run at CityOne Megamall here yesterday.
Chan further added that there is a need to assist the community both in health and financially.
The charity run aims to gather 3,000 participants from the public.
Those registering as early bird are entitled to two running T-shirts, a finishing medal, and exciting lucky draw prizes.
In addition, the top 20 men and top 20 women in the 10km category will receive prize money for champion (RM 350), first runner-up (RM 300) third placed participant (RM 250).
As for, fourth to 10th place, each is getting RM 100, while those in 11th place to 20th get RM 80 each.
Registration for the run is open to the public until April 13, 2023, and participants can sign up through the event website, https://www.kuchingrotarycharityrun.com/.
