KUCHING: The match between Kuching City FC and Penang FC at the Sarawak Stadium in Petra Jaya here ended all square on Sunday (August 11).
Kuching City FC came back from two goals down with a much-improved performance in the second half to draw 2-2.
In the first half, Penang FC were the better side, with Adib Ra’op attempting a shot from 25 yards out that hit the crossbar.
They nearly took the lead with a shot by Danial Amier in the 35th minute, which sailed wide.
Penang FC’s passing was sharp, and this was evident when Joao Ferreira de Oliveira Neto scored in the 38th minute with his left foot.
The hosts tried to respond immediately with a shot from Tchetche Kipre, but it went straight to the keeper.
Penang FC extended their lead when Neto’s free kick found Rodrigo Dias.
However, Kuching City FC played better football and showed improved organisation in the second half.
Just 14 minutes in, Jimmy Raymond provided an assist for Zahrul Nizwan Joe Kifli to score.
In the 78th minute, Penang FC goalkeeper Sikh Izhan Nazrel Sikh Azman parried a beautiful free kick from Mohamad Alif Hassan, but Tchetche Kipre followed up to score the equaliser for Kuching City FC.
In the closing minutes, Kuching City FC’s free kick was also palmed away by Sikh Izhan.
Following the draw, Kuching City FC are now fifth in the standings after eight matches in the Malaysian Super League.
