KUCHING: Kuching City FC is enjoying a standout season, with fans excited about the team’s growth and the potential for even greater achievements ahead.

The Cats are gearing up for a crucial Malaysia Cup round of 16 clash against Penang FC on Nov 20 at 8.30pm, an away match that promises to be a test of their resolve.

Despite a minor setback caused by the postponement of their match against Sri Pahang FC due to heavy rain, the team has maintained a strong momentum under the guidance of head coach Aidil Sharin Sahak.

Currently sitting in fifth place in the Malaysian Super League with 18 points from 13 matches, Kuching City FC are proving to be a competitive force this season.

Their journey so far has been filled with thrilling moments, including Hazwan Bakri’s dramatic stoppage-time goal against Negeri Sembilan FC, followed by a disappointing late equaliser.

However, the team showed resilience in their 3-1 victory over KL City, where they fought valiantly despite being reduced to nine men on the field.

Key to their success has been a blend of fresh talent and experienced players.

New signings like Ramadhan Saifullah and Hazwan Bakri have added an extra spark, while veterans such as Jimmy Raymond, Tchetche Kipre and Petrus Shitembi continue to show hunger and ambition.

Goalkeepers Wan Muhammad Azraie and Mohd Shahril Saa’ri have also played a vital role, with Azraie making several crucial saves, including during their dramatic win over KL City.

The balanced mix of youth and experience, along with Aidil’s tactical adaptability, has positioned Kuching City FC as one of the most exciting teams in the league.

As the season unfolds, there is plenty of optimism surrounding their ability to climb even higher in the standings.
