KUCHING: Kuching City FC head coach Irfan Bakti Abu Salim remains confident in his team’s ability to secure any points when they face Kelantan FC tomorrow (February 25).

Taking place at the Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium in Kota Bharu, the opening match of Kuching City’s 2023 Malaysia Super League campaign is not an easy task for the players, especially as it takes place on the opponent’s turf.

Nevertheless, Irfan said this is not an excuse to dampen their initial desire.

“Our goal is certainly to try to at least gather some points through tomorrow’s match in the evening.

“I believe that if the starting line-up can implement the strategies and tactics, and follow the game plan that we will be using effectively, it is not impossible for us to bring home any points,” Irfan told New Sarawak Tribune and Arena Suara Sarawak.

The experienced coach stressed that this is his team’s first appearance in the Super League, and therefore, he reminded his players to remain focused throughout the entire 90-minute game.

“There are three things I remind the players — they need to be wise in making use of the opportunities presented, absorb pressure wisely, and avoid making mistakes,” Irfan added.

Irfan emphasised that he has prepared the best line-up for the match, putting his faith in the strength of both veteran and new players.
