KUCHING: Kuching City’s head coach Aidil Sharin Sahak commended his players for their hard work in securing a 2-0 win against PDRM FC last night (Jul 12), earning three crucial points.

“I think I really have to (give it a) go to the players because they worked very hard today. Not the best football we have today, honestly.

“We got early goals which I think were good for the team but after the goal, PDRM started to press us in the first half and we started to sit back,” he told a press conference at the Stadium Negeri, in Petra Jaya here last night.

Aidil said after some tactical changes at halftime, it made a better difference as Kuching City were able to give added pressure to PDRM FC.

“I made some changes because some players were on their yellow, a bit of tactical changes and I think the changes made a lot of difference,” he said.

Aidil brought on three substitutes – Zahrul Nizwan on for Amir Amri Salleh, Filemon Anyie for Mohamad Arif Fadzilah and Diego Baggio for Luiz Fernando at halftime.

“Zahrul came in very well. I think Filemon managed to shut down their number 7, who is a very good player.

“Baggio who stopped a lot in the middle. Second half, I think we played much better than in the first half but I hope the boys understand that to be up there is always to be consistent, not only play one good half,” he said.

Aidl’s men will play two away games – Kedah Darul Aman FC and Perak FC in the space of four days.

“Every game is going to be difficult for us. Now everyone starts to know about Kuching City. We have to prepare well and we have to work hard to be consistent.

“I hope this is a good start and also I want to thank all the fans who came all the way and give us good support, ” he said.

He pointed out that with increased numbers of fans who can now see improvement.

“With support from fans, more players are motivated. I hope for more results and more good football.

“Kedah is the next opponent for us. We are going to play away and next after that Perak in four days. It’s going to be very tough for us because we play two games in four days and two games away,” he said.

A clean sheet and two goals from Danial Amier after two minutes and a penalty by Jordan Mintah at the 90th minute was enough to secure three points for the II Gatto’s bringing them to sixth in the league.
