KUCHING: A total of 33 students from the third semester of the Certificate in Architecture Technology (STS) programme exhibited their work in the form of architectural models based on the plan drawings of a modern longhouse.

The exhibition was held in the multi-purpose hall of the Kuching Community College (KKKG) here on Monday (May 27).

According to Kuching Community College director Sumbang Mandaw, the initiative to establish Industry On Campus (IOC) is a collaboration between KKKG and PCSS Consultancy Sdn Bhd, which focuses on giving STS students exposure to the real environment in the construction industry at an early stage.

“Students majoring in STS at this college can apply real problems that occur in the industry and they will see from the context of teaching and learning.

“I am convinced that an approach led by the industry is important to provide the skilled human capital needed by the industry, especially to support the transition of the economic sector towards knowledge-based activities, in line with the aspiration of becoming a developed country,” said Sofhi while officiating the implementation of the Industry On Campus programme (OIC) at the TVET KKKG 2024 Day ceremony.

Earlier, the lecturers and students for the Fashion and Clothing Certificate (SFP) and Creative Sewing Basic Certificate (KJK) courses also exhibited the students’ work in the form of fashion sewing clothes and sewing curtains and tote bags.
