KUCHING: Substitute midfielder Chanturu Supiah scored a 90th minute shocker for Felda United to settle proceedings at the state stadium here yesterday.
The visiting team knocked Kuching FA out of the Shopee FA Cup in the first round of the competition with a solitary goal after what was a dominating performance from the home side.
Kuching started the game with a 4-4-2 formation with Mohd Iqbal their regular keeper between the posts shielded by back four of Mohd Dzulfajar, Mohd Hairol, Mohd Nor Alif and Saharan.
The midfield was marshalled by Yuta Suzuki with Captain Rafiezan Razali taking the creative role assisted by Nur Alif and Mohd Zainudin in the flanks.
Strikers Zulkarnien Poasa and Mohd Shafitri spearheaded the attack in the absence of star forward Joeseph Kallang Tie and had a good game throughout playing their part in defence as well and making countless efforts on the goal.
The visiting Felda United in blue dominated the first fifteen minutes and put the home side on the defensive.
The home side took control of possession midway through the first half and played wonderful one and two touch football.
In the 75th minute, Kuching FA came close to scoring to break the deadlock with numerous shots on goal but luck and a resilient defence saw Felda soldier on.
Again in the 82nd and 85th minutes the game saw two ballooned shots by the eager Kuching forward line, which was missing their talisman forward Joseph Kalang Tie due to injury.
In the 88th minute a point blank reflex saved by Felda keeper Norizan Razali was all that was in between Kuching and their first goal of the game. About 2,000 people witnessed the exciting match.
