KUCHING: Kuching FA failed to gain any point after being defeated 1-2 by Petaling Jaya (PJ) Rangers at the State Stadium Petra Jaya on Sunday.
Kuching FA had to play with 10 players in the 58th minute when midfielder, Mansor Kram was sent off after receiving his second yellow card. The homesters also squandered several chances.
The visitors led 2-0 at halftime through Fandi Ahmad in the 10th minute and Khairul Naim Mahyuddin the 45th minute.
Sarawak goal was scored by Mohd Shahfitri Salim in the late 88th minute.
“It’s somewhat disappointing for us not to get any point,” said team manager Kuching FA, Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman.
“If some chances had been converted, victory would have been in our favour, but I am proud of the players’ fighting spirit despite their conceding twice in the first half,” said Fazzrudin.
Meanwhile, Fazzrudin expressed disappointment over the quality of refereeing during the match.
“The referee made some unfair decisions, even the injuries time was not properly given,” he said.
According to Fazzrudin, they will send a report to the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) and want the FAM to study all matters arising through the video footage that will be sending together.
“We hope there will be a follow-up after receiving our report,” he added.
Surprisingly, PJ Rangers were line-up by several former Super League players including former Sarawak goalkeeper, Fadzley Abdul Rahim.
Six others former Super League players namely, Wee Shen Ming, Fafrul Razi, Khairul Naim, Abdullahi Yusuf (captain), Fandi Ahmad and See Kok Luen.
