KUCHING: People from all walks of life are invited to join the Chap Goh Mei concert, an electrifying celebration of Chinese New Year festivities set to ignite the heart of Kuchingites, this coming Saturday (Feb 24).
The concert, titled ‘A Celebration of Tradition and Unity’, will feature 15 local and international artistes and it will be held at the MBKS Floating Theatre Park from 7pm to 11pm.
Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng said that the event, now in its second year, will begin with the mesmerising lion and dragon dance performances.
“We have also invited international and local artistes as well as influencers, to let them have a platform to showcase the rich tapestry of Chinese heritage and traditions.
“This is what we are trying to do, bringing the people together to celebrate this festive season with traditional music and contemporary performances,” he said at a press conference today (Feb 20).
The concert will end on a high note with a breathtaking fireworks display to illuminate the night sky.
In the spirit of inclusivity, Wee stated that admission to the concert is free for all and that there will be lucky draw sessions for attendees.
While seating will not be provided, chairs will be available for the elderly and those in need, ensuring comfort for all attendees.
TEA FM and TVS, the official radio partner and broadcaster, along with sponsors such as the Kuching Love Book Association, 38 Yayasan Amal Cinta, Imperial Hotel Kuching, Tay Motors, and Skyram Enterprise are instrumental in making this event a success.
“Their support underscores the importance of community collaboration in celebrating cultural diversity and promoting local talent.”
