KUCHING: The Kuching Hockien Association (KHA) is inviting photography and video enthusiasts to participate in the upcoming Harmonious Sarawak Photography Competition and Harmonious Sarawak Short Video Creation Competition.
KHA president Datuk Richard Wee said that the competitions will be held in conjunction with the Seng Ong Deity Birthday and Procession scheduled for March 31.
The procession will follow the route used last year, covering the city centre areas such as Ban Hock Road, Padungan Road, Main Bazaar, Gambier Street, and Carpenter Street.
“We are having a procession on March 31, an annual procession, but this year is a little bit more enlivening the atmosphere because this year is the Year of the Dragon. Besides the procession, we also have other series of activities from March 27 onwards,” Wee stated during a press conference at the KHA office on today (Feb 28).
The photography competition, held in collaboration with the Sarawak Photography Society, will feature two categories: professional camera and amateur.
Similarly, the short video competition, in collaboration with the Kuching Filming and Publishing Association, will have corresponding categories and prizes.
ee also extended an invitation to the public to join and witness the procession, which will include dragon dance troupes from Kuching and other areas such as Serian, Bau, Kota Kinabalu, and more.
Activities scheduled from March 27 onwards include a lion and dragon dance eye-dotting ceremony, a charity event for vegetarian meal distribution, a charity event distributing 500 packs of 10kg white rice by Lien Heng Wushu Association, and the Grand Birthday Celebration with a Worship ceremony.
