KUCHING: The Kuching Jazz Music Festival, which takes place on Oct 28 and 29, will feature popular Indonesian artiste Afgansyah Reza or Afgan.
Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said Afgan had many fans in Malaysia and Sarawak.
“After this festival has been successfully held three times since 2017, we are finally able to fulfil requests and bring in Afgan this year.”
He said this at a press conference in conjunction with the launch of the event at Tribes Jazz & Reggae Lounge, Hotel Grand Margherita on Tuesday (Aug 30).
According to Abdul Karim, past years had shown that Indonesian entertainers such as Tulus, Tompi, Kunto Aji, and many others, had consistently been a favourite of fans here.
“In addition to artistes and bands from Indonesia, Kuching Jazz 2022 will also feature artistes and bands from Malaysia, Singapore, Australia and Thailand. More will be revealed in the coming weeks.
“Organising such an event will also have a positive effect on the hospitality industry because many tourists will come to stay and so on.”
Abdul Karim informed that this year they would also be aiming for 4,000 visitors at the two-day festival that will take place at Grand Margherita.
