KUCHING: The Kuching District Police are investigating an altercation involving singer Hafiz Suip and a local man that went viral on social media.
The incident, which took place on Jalan Padungan yesterday (Aug 30) at around 2.10pm, was captured in a 43-second video that has been widely circulated online.
Kuching District Police Chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah confirmed that the police received two reports related to the incident on the same day.
“The case is being investigated under Section 160 of the Penal Code for affray, which can lead to a penalty of up to six months in jail, a fine of up to RM1,000, or both.
“Following the reports, a team from the Kuching District Police Headquarters (IPD Kuching) conducted an investigation and interviewed both individuals involved at around 4pm on August 30,” he said in a statement today (Aug 31).
The Kuching District Police urge anyone with information about this incident to come forward and assist in the investigation.
