KUCHING: About 800 participants today took part in the 5km Fun Run & Walk 2019 at Kuching Polytechnic Sarawak at Jalan Matang here.

The run was held in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the polytechnic. It aimed to encourage sports activities and teamwork among the students, enhance their bonds as well as the polytechnic’s July 2019 intake.

The programme began at 7am with the participants’ registration.

The run was later flagged off at 7.30am by Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Deputy Minister Chong Chieng Jen, deputy director of the polytechnic Chow Tio Kiong and Chong’s assistant Abdul Aziz Isa Marindo at the main entrance of the polytechnic.

Apart from the run, there was a lucky draw and presentation of prizes to the winners of the run.

Electronic items worth RM5000   were given out as prizes for the top winners of the run. The first 100 people who finished the run also received a finisher medal each while certificates were given out to all participants.
