KUCHING: Datuk Dr John Lau Pang Heng and Teo Soo Loon will represent Division D at the upcoming District 87 speech contests to be held in Bali, Indonesia from May 19 to 21 this year.
Lau, winner of the Division D International Speech Contest and Teo, winner of the Division D Table Topics contest, are both members of the UTAMA Toastmasters Club in Kuching. Division D comprises all the Toastmasters Clubs in the Kuching Division.
After winning their respective contests in the Division D contest held over the weekend, the club selected them to participate in the District 87 speech contests in Bali. The contests were presided over by the current Division D Director, Frankie Yang, and the organising chairman, Wee Pie Chai.
In addition, two other members of the club, Stanley Gona Chee Khiong and Lucy Ho, won third place in the International Speech Contest and Table Topics session, respectively.
