First of it’s kind, Kuching Waterfront Jazz Festival 2017 will be making its debut as a two day musical fiesta from the 29th – 30th September this year at the Grand Margherita Hotel.

The music festival was officially launched recently on the 16th of June by Mr Edwin Abit, Deputy General Manager, Commercial Sector cum Director, Tourism & Leisure Division and Corporate Relations and Communications Division of sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) along with John Agustin, SEDC chief operations officer of Sara Hospitality Sdn Bhd, Tourism and hospitality division, Mok Pin Chuan General Manager of Grand Margherita Hotel, Brandon Chin of Uber Sarawak, Madam Gracie Gelkie (Festival Advisor), Ashweein Narayanan of Amogha Tours and Travel Sdn Bhd (ATTSB) and Mona Abdul Mahap of Managing Director of Place Borneo Sdn Bhd.

“The music festival will be featuring it’s main stage on Kuching Waterfront, capturing the scenery of Sarawak River in which KWJF 2017 promises two days of sweet sensantional jazz music, open air and indoor food courtyards, arts, crafts, specialty bazaar and games for the children.”

“The 2-day jazz music festival will feature acclaimed jazz musicians and singers from all over the region including Malaysia’s very own Shiela Majid, Andy Peterson and The Shanghai Sisters with Singapore’s Jeremy Monteiro and the Asian All-Stars Quarter feautring Melissa Tham, Indonesia’s Kunto Aji, Abdul and the Coffee Theory and Balawan Magic Fingers, Thailand’s Mellow Motif and many more talented musicians.”

“Festival gates will be open by 5.00PM where by the concert programme will begin by 7.00PM till midnight on Friday and 7.00PM to 1.00AM on Sunday”

“The Inaugural festival will have local and international media coverage from Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore and India.”

Mr Edwin also stated that the event is created to give reputation and prominence towards the majestic stature of Kuching Waterfront whilst at the same time providing a platform to nurture and grow local talents in jazz music and to encourage events & festivals in Sarawak.

Early bird tickets are currently on sale till the 30th July for RM60/ per day/RM100 for two days for adults and Rm30 per day for kids aged 3-12 years old in which the ticketing price onwards will be priced at after RM80 per day or RM120 for two days for adults, and RM40 per day for children.
Tickets sold at the festival gate are RM130 per day or RM200 for two days for adults, and RM65 per day for children.
