KUCHING: District 87 director Nur Zaihanirah Zaini has made Malaysia proud by winning the Select Distinguished District Award for the 2023-2024 term.

Angkatan Zaman Mansang Sarawak (AZAM Sarawak), in a press release, said the prestigious recognition was announced during the Hall of Fame at the Toastmasters International Convention held at the Anaheim Marriott, California recently.

“Hani, who is also a distinguished member of AZAM Toastmasters Club in Kuching, has demonstrated exceptional leadership, reflecting the values we celebrate every August 31 on Malaysia’s Independence Day: resilience, courage, and a commitment to progress for oneself and the nation.

“Much like the nation’s freedom fighters, Hani has strengthened District 87’s reputation on the international stage, embodying the spirit of Malaysia Madani,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, in her speech, Hani said that her experience as a ‘Product of AZAM’ has taught her to lead with dedication, much like how the country was built on the foundations of perseverance and unity.

“Leading District 87 is a great responsibility, and I am proud to carry the spirit of Malaysia’s independence to the global arena,” she said.

Furthermore, the establishment of AYS Speaker Club in Sarawak, led by Hani, aligns with the spirit of independence, providing Malaysian youth with the opportunity to stand on their own, just as the country achieved its independence.
